better looks. any tips or opinions?
Re: better looks. any tips or opinions?
It would certainly be easier to remove the whole tire as I'm not sure how to remove only a part of it...
If you buy the kit from Autozone it will come with everything you need- cleaner, brushes and all. I did all 4 of my calipers and barely used 1/3 of the can, and that was with 3 coats of paint. Just remember like everything else- multiple light coats are better than trying to do one heavy.
Buy plenty of cleaner!! Even when you think they are cleaned, clean them one more time just to be sure. The paint won't stick to brake dust or dirt and flake off right away.
Make sure you set aside at least a day you won't need to drive to car. Easiest way would be score a full set of jack-stands and do all 4 calipers at the same time. I wouldn't pull them off the car either..just do them on the car- I had a set off and a set on my car when I did mine- the ones on the car were easier since didn't have to worry about them moving.

So just take the whole thing off and leave the calipers on the car?

I'm not sure what you mean by take the whole thing off...I was jesting at only taking a part of the tire off since not really possible...
I personally would recommend leaving the calipers on the car. Saves having to find a way to plug all your brake lines and having to re-bleed them. Some might argue otherwise but if the only thing you are doing is the caliper paint, easiest way IMO would be leave them on the car.

Re: better looks. any tips or opinions?
"SS" was basically a designation that upgraded a few parts from the factory.
You can put just about any motor in any Camaro with enough work- the engine bays are the same shape regardless of V6, Z28 or SS.

Re: better looks. any tips or opinions?
The SS is only a slightly upgraded Z28. It has a different hood/air induction, a different rear decklid spoiler, different rims and better suspension and exaughst. So if you were to think of it this way a Z28 is a base model SS. BTW I've got Vette rims and the bow tie center caps fit in Nicely. I did not want to fly Vette flags on my Camaro because it's not a Vette. It's a standard bolt pattern so most center caps are interchangable between Vette rims and Camaro rims (GM) if they were designed to snap on the same way.
