I didn't know what else to use and I wasn't looking for something expensive and perfect. Just sanded down the chrome (which was interesting in itself to do) and applied 3-4 layers of black gloss and then a final layer of clear coat. Not sure how long it will last but it was a fun project. Can't wait to find some lowering springs...

Best method is powder coating. Second best is to use epoxy based paint. Im thinkin of either the Hyper Black or the Gunmetal with the polished outer lip. Should look good on my Hunter/Polo Green Z.

I dont think it will matter how much clear you put over them. Clear in a can doesnt contain the hardener needed by the clear you would use to spray a car if you used a hvlp gun or equivilant. It will chip easily.
There is only one spray can out on the market that I am aware of that holds up to a real clear coat. I cant find the link right now but I know the can is orange in color.

And yes the chrome was coming off pretty bad on the rear wheels. If not, I probably wouldn't have done this. That's how I bought them so I got them pretty cheap!
