Best After Market SS Hood??

Who makes the best aftermarket SS hood? I want it to fit just like a GM hood and it needs to be functional. I would rather have a factory GM hood, but their kind of hard to come by. If by chance anyone has a GM hood for the 98-02 cars let me know! I ran my Z-28 off the road into some bushes the other night so Ive gotta have the whole thing repainted. Figured I might as well throw on the SS hood and spoiler and remove the Z-28 badges and not put any badges back on it.

ASCD makes one of the best repo hoods that we've seen.

I'm pretty sure you can still get a OEM SS hood from www.gm-restorationparts.com if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Best After Market SS Hood??

My ACSD hood was a piece of ill fitting junk and still isn't a perfect fit even after $600 in body work and retrofitting to make it fit. The owner would not even split shipping for me to return it for another one! That was about 6 years ago when this all went down, maybe things have gotten better...

Re: Best After Market SS Hood??

A guy I work with has someone hit the front of his 01 SS a couple years ago. Insurance replaced and repainted all damaged parts. He has gotten rid of the car, but still has the old hood in his garage that just has a knick in the corner. I should get it from him and sell it

How much is an oem ss hood worth anyway?

Very unsatisfied with my suncoast hood, and their service. Terrible piece of fiberglass

I can't speak for everyone, but the the two Suncoast Performance hoods I've installed were fine, as was the shipping, service, etc. They fit fine (for fiberglass), and this was with two different hoods on two different cars.

What color is the SS hood and how bad is the knick in the color? Could you get me pics? If he wants to sell it Ill give him 500$ for it. Let me know. Thanks!

I talked to him today. He said one of the front corners was bent. Supposed to be easily fixed, but that will cost you more money, plus paint. He only wants $300 for it though. I should get a finders fee

I honestly dont know the extent of the damage. If you really are interested, I can ask for pics. I dont know if he has a digital cam or not though...

The more prep time you spend on it, the better its going to turn out.

Cant tell you who makes this because i got it in a roundabout way. Its fiberglass, and has provisions for factory SS box.

Spent hour after hour after hour on it, but its perfect

Re: Best After Market SS Hood??

atljar,

Did you have just the hood painted, or did you blend it into the other panels.

Looks great.

I was lucky enough to find a factory SS hood that hasn't been painted and is in awesome shape. Just wondering how hard it is to match colors from the hood to the other panels.

Re: Best After Market SS Hood??

Just had the hood painted. At dusk and just the right angle, you can see a difference in the color. At any other time, no chance of telling.
