well guys, got this berger panel from a friend
it started life on a silver 1998 z28
Getting the emblems off without knicking the panel was the hardest part.
I took a razor blade and went around the edges of the emblems to break up some of the glue.
Then I took a hairdryer to it to get it super hot, so the glue was nice and gooey.
Then i took a strand of fishing string to slide under it to pull the emblems off
I sanded it twice with 120 grit to get any clear coat and any small knicks out of the panel. Then sanded it with 220 grit, and then 300 grit. Before primer, i also wetsanded it with 400 grit wetsand to get it nice and smooth

I have then Primered it "as you can see in these pictures"






after primer, i wetsanded it with 600 grit wetsand, which left it nice and smooth (3 coats of primer)

After I felt it was finally smooth enough for my taste, i painted it with Duplicolor "GM Black" found at your local auto store (autozone, advanced, oreillys)




i have 3 coats of it on there (2 small cans or so)

still need to get it clear-coated, and then get my silver inlays put in, and my "GM Performance Division" emblem

going to use the polished stainless fills
should look quite nice on my red z28 when its all finished
i especially like the color because its not really glossy, and its not flat, more of a semi-gloss, and it matches the black mirrors and the black top for the t-tops almost perfectly

Next year after the 383 is done, im gonna get a 3" tall SS, and really add to the "performance division" look
i'm trying to make it look like it could have came factory that way (i.e. sorta like a LT1 version of a dick harrell or something)
