Berger Panel and other appearance questions??

Im going to get my car touched up at the body shop and decided to get my back taillight panel painted like the Berger Style. I also wanted to place the Chrome Camaro Inserts or stainless steel. THere has been some controversy about a quality kit, besides subthump and rksport are there any other places? Last question, any criticism of how this satin black panel will look on my 01 Onyx SS? Will it look unpainted or should i opt for maybe the GM metallic grey...more charcoal with greater contrast? In the future I might add those metallic graphite hash mark vinyl stripes or 35th anniversary stripes.THanks.

Personally I think that the Berger style rear panel on a black car will just look like it's unpainted - I wouldn't do it. Even in a charcoal type color, it would just look like you have a panel that you are waiting to get painted...I would suggest not doing it. That's the ONLY downfall to a black Camaro (except being able to keep one clean, but...)

The stainless inserts are also available from MBA Products, a sponsor of the board. They are a VERY HIGH quality company, and their prices aren't that bad. I would recommend them, as seeing the debate over SS Inserts (also a sponsor) was kind of cloudy.

The hash marks or stripes would look fine thought without the "inpainted, unmatching" rear panel.

I try crazy things, but I wouldnt try that, it looks like you found a part at the junk yard and couldnt wait to paint it, if it was a SS hood or something cool, but a back panel, not enough people know what berger is. Just my opionion

I have painted my rear panel and get MANY compliments on it. You don't have to have knowledge on Berger to be different, you just have to be different. Its painted a semi- black. Check out the pics in this thread.

As far as filling in the CAMARO with inserts, i personally dont like that effect, but thats just me. I know of a few folks that have done it and looks good, just not for me.

Just my $.02

i painted my tail panel black. it's more of a flat black though. i don't like the satin black panels. i don't think it would be noticeable on a black car though.

Yes, you should recieve many compliments on it! It looks great! But your car is white...it looks great on white. I agree too with what 2nd2none said..."it looks like you found a part at the junk yard and couldnt wait to paint it"

Be creative, and unique, - yet also classy!

Well, I have a black car, and I'm getting the rear panel painted like the berger cars. I think it will look good, but I haven't seen a black one done like that, in person...

Anyway, I'll take some pics when it's done.

it does look sweet with the white car but yeah, black wouldn't make that much of a difference. Ok off the subject, but I'm tryind to do the same thing and I'm trying to trade a black car for my valance but my car is red. Not sure how that would look on a black car with a red valance.

Now, IMHO, chrome or silver accents would look sweet, probably depending on your rims....Camaro rear fill etc.
Accent colors in descending favorite order:
Silver/chrome
White
Orange
Red
Yellow
Purple
Blue
Agreed, and yeah, it'll look like a primered part. Don't get me wrong though, I love the black panel on other colors. I did it to mine too.

My previous car was a black Z. I had the RKSport chrome CAMARO inserts and I painted the Z28 logos silver.

Here it is.

Cool

I wouldn't change the color of the rear panel on a Black car. But as for inserts I highly recommend SS Inserts Great quality and not too bad pricewise
