Bad Weather Lights

I figured I would start a new thread since this is a different topic then the other.

I want to put yellow bulbs in the fog lights for sole use as lights when it is rainy/foggy. Since I am upgrading the bulbs in the low/high beams I will not be needing extra illumination out of the fogs.

The Hella Yellowstar Line seems to be very good for this application. However I can't find any that fit the camaro fog light (885)

Can any of you guys find them? Or know where I can get them?

If not will any yellow bulb serve the same purpose?

Re: Bad Weather Lights

I really don't understand why you are going through the trouble.
Why don't you try out the Headlights first, and see how they do for you in the rain/fog, then see how much you want to invest in the fog lights?

You aren't going to get a lot out of the stock fog lights just to be honest. Your best bet is going to be to get a totally different housing. There are a lot of options on this...just find the one that suits you pretty much.

Or, if you are dead set on having yellow lights, get a set of these:
http://www.matrixracing.com/pc-9213-...00-kelvin.aspx
They cross reference fine into the 885 housing. They are only 37.5w whereas the 885 is 50w. You are MOST LIKELY not going to find a 50w yellow bulb, as the 885 is the only 50w bulb in that configuration, and most fog light lenses are plastic. The 885 is made for fewer housings with glass lenses (like ours) and not many people make them. The only place I know of that did doesn't offer them any more. If you want those - shop around - they are all over the place, and probably not just that brand.

Thanks for the info.

I have a question about the bulb you listed.

Luminics 880 JDM Yellow 12V 27W Actual - 130W Projection Bulb (25000 Kelvin)

What does that mean? "27 W Actual - 130W Projection Bulb" I have never seen any other bulb listed like that.

This usually means they are the equivalent to a 130W bulb if they are used in a projector beam housing. You are not using them in a projector beam housing so they will be like a 27W bulb, i.e. not very bright.
There are a lot of after market fog lights, in yellow, that fit the holes.

Thanks for the explanation. I do realize all of the aftermarket light housings etc, I have said a number of times I am not interested in them at all. I do not have the money for light housings, this project is only worth a few bucks to me, not over 100$

Re: Bad Weather Lights

Is there any difference between "hyper yellow" and "yellow"?

After googling some more I found 3 yellow lights.

I found a 37.5 watt "hyper yellow" Nokya bulb:

A 37.5 watt Lumix Bulb:

I also found a 50 watt yellow bulb.

Which one do you guys like best?

Ehhh...not quite. They use the "50w draw, 110w output" claims as a sales pitch basically. They are trying to make you think you are getting a 110w bulb instead of 50w basically...or for a more common user, making you think you are getting 110w of output at 50w of draw. No such thing. They figure with Xenon gas, etc. it somehow makes the output seem higher in wattage.

If you want a GOOD 100w bulb for your FF75's then those are what I would buy. I ran those exact bulbs in my car for a long time. Then I tried about every other H7 bulb just for experimentation sake. Those were my favorites though as far as output. Now I just have the old stockers that came with the FF75's in there. I lost the Luks somewhere in the mix.

And no, the FF75 is not a projector beam housing.
The Hella 90mm is. http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/u/mulgeary/Hella90/index.htm

For more reasons than one.
•It is the correct bulb.
•It is true 50w.
•It is the correct bulb.

If you don't want to those, then definintely the Nokya's over the others. Nokya is a great brand.

This is very true...an 893 isn't the only cross reference. I have some listed here.

Thank you for all of your help. I will order the classic garage bulbs, i already ordered the lucs for my low and high beams.

Re: Bad Weather Lights

The stock fog lights are a joke, you really need aftermarket housings. With my hella ff75 fog lights i can pretty much use them as headlights if i want.

That's because hella ff75's are driving lights not fog lights.

No, you are wrong. Hella makes FF75 fog lights and FF75 driving lights. I am talking about the FF75 foglights which i used to replace my stock fog lights with.

Re: Bad Weather Lights

I have the clear fog lights.
Honda Hunter- Fog lights have a wide pattern but the light doesn't go out to far. Driving lights are kind of like mini spot lights, they don't have a wide pattern but the light goes real far.
