Automatic Hatch?

Has anyone seen a hatch that can be opened or closed automatically by pressing a button? It seems to me it would be pretty simple with a light weight ballscrew, like for a small sat dish or something. I think it would be cool. What do you think...

Re: Automatic Hatch?

Get stronger struts, and when you use the remote it would open automatically. Closing it you would actually need effort, but you're halfway there.

Tie a rope to the hatch some where and pull to close.

I think the closing part is the hardest part to figure out. I know a custom shop here in Bahrain that could do it I think but A: If I asked them for the idea so I could do it my self theyed proably tell me to bug off.
B: I could see it costing way to many Dinars and in the end the cool factor would wear thin.

I'm sure if you lived in Houston Texas you could find a shop to do it. They like to "Pop trunk" there and are always coming up with new and cool ideas to make thier trunk do crazy things.

btw you have 346CI, not 350. Sorry to be technical, but you'll hear that a LOT.

Yeah all you'd need is a couple linear actuators in place of the shocks. It'd take a little less than forever to open, but i'd be pretty neat, and easily rigged up.

And that will close it as well?

actually that depends on the torque of the actuators. hmm maybe you'd need another latch assembly, but then again no one has really tried this before, so i don't know.
