Automatic Gear Shift Change? PLEASE HELP
Hi,
I have a 2002 Camaro with a automatic tranny and I have always wanted to change the ugly stock shifter thing.
Is there anyone who knows of a place that sells something better looking then that black "button" stock shifter?
PLEASE let me know as much as you know.
Thanks!

You can use the Trans Am's somewhat uglier T-handle if you prefer it.
There's also a company that make an adapter that allows you to use a manual shift **** of your choice. I can't remember who offered that. Afterthoughts Auto?

Re: Automatic Gear Shift Change? PLEASE HELP
The stock one is held on with a staple that needs to be carefully pried from the front. The button is removed the same way, by carefully prying. Remove the button first, then the staple, then yank the shift **** off without punching yourself in the face or punching your rear view mirror. I think you may have to remove the spring from the inside too after taking the button off. It's been awhile...

Re: Automatic Gear Shift Change? PLEASE HELP
I have the auto to manual adapter. It works well. To shift you just push the whole shift **** down.
The only problem is the adapter makes the shifter stick up higher. Depending what **** you use it might look odd. Somewhere I read that someone cut theirs down though.

Re: Automatic Gear Shift Change? PLEASE HELP
if you want the trailblazer shifter, it looks like it... but if you got the adapter(20$) and then you have many more options with the shifter ball(20 and up $)
ill will probably go with the adapter when i get the money

Re: Automatic Gear Shift Change? PLEASE HELP
here's what i did to mine
, I shortened the shaft using a dremel, then made the boot from material from fabric store and sewing machine, I added a plastic rim around the base screwed to the dash piece, (looks much better than just tucking into the slot) then I bought a leather covered **** to replace my plastic one, shortened it by about 1/2" cutting off the bottom with a band saw and ended up with this,
I also have a carbon fiber trim kit installed.

I've has it like this for 5 years, no problems
