Anyone who has gotten their front bumper repainted

Im about to get my front bumper repainted but i was wondering if the body shop will paint the grill black and the bowtie red like it is right now or will they paint it all the same color?

You'll probably just have to ask them. When they repainted mine, they didn't paint it back to red. The did do my grill area and headlights because I told them to.

Did they charge you extra for it?

That bowtie comes off. They should NOT paint that area and leave that bowtie on there because it is an emblem. A good body shop removes all emblems, paints the car, then puts the emblems back on. Even if you want it the SAME color they should still take it off and paint it separately.

My bowtie is not an emblem. My whole car was painted and I told them how I wanted everything.

Are you talking about this bowtie?

The yellow one on the front of my car in this picture?

If so, from 93 to 97, they are emblems and not molded into the bumper.

Here are pics of me testing two colors. I had two of these and asked my painter to paint one yellow and one red.

Here is me taking off the yellow one to flip it 180 degrees. I didn't realize there was a top and bottom but there is!

And here is another picture of me actually peeling off the stock one...

It may look like the bowtie is molded into the front fascia but it isn't

I never knew that! I thought some were molded in and some were not. I went out and looked at my car hoping I could proof the almighty Brent out, but nope!

My car didnt come with an emblem on the front so I ordered one and painted it black since I have no black around the headlights and between the foglights. I want to paint the car and make that black like it is supposed to be.

That bowtie emblem is GM p/n 10166783.
