Re: Anyone ever try these seats?

I'd be suspicious of something so cheap. Remeber that the seats are one of the single most expensive items in the car. Look at them in person and decide if they are something you want though.

I would look for some Firebird seats. That is what I have. I think they sit a lot better than the Camaro seats. The AQ9 option has the inflatable lumbar and was avaliable on Trans Ams(I think they were standard on WS6's). Expect to pay pretty penny for leather AQ9 seats in good condition.

Re: Anyone ever try these seats?

Ive never seen a F-car with anything except Corbeau/Sparco or Recaro aftermarket seats . Even on cardomain, Camaro Moblog, magazines etc. I think the brackets are the key. To much of a hassle getting the "universal" sliders to work. I need new seats and am gonna suck it up and get Flowfits, about $355 each. I got Tan leather seats from a wrecked 02 WS6 in my 95 Z and they LOOK great, but my legs still cramp terribly after 30 minutes of driving. Ill be putting them on E bay soon.

Re: Anyone ever try these seats?

Thing is, I don;'t think the only way a thing is good, is if its expensive...

I know not to crap out on seats, that is why I was asking around and didn't just buy them, if its crap I wouldn't get it. But I am looking at options, if its not these I woudl likely go with Summits corbreau knock offs... There are MANY times where stuff is made by the same main company and sold to subsidaries to be resold. But when they are resold they are sold at completely different prices and with different names, even though they were manufactured the same way and in the same place.

Throwing a ton of money at stuff doesn't make it "good", just makes it expensive. That is why I research cheap alternatives.

Re: Anyone ever try these seats?

I was in a local speed shop here, and they had a set that looked like the ones summit sells. They were very comfortable, and were like $320 canadian each. One day i will have some.

Im with mustangeater82 on this one, you get what you pay for to a certain extent. I think that sparcos and such are very overpriced. Corbeaus are generally priced better, but still high. I see nothing wrong with getting a seat like summit or just a brand x seat like i described.

I personally saw the TA seats in a teal camaro and thought they didnt match well. With that thought I went and bought some ebony 93-95 Camaro leather seats to replace my cloth ones.

So I figured I'd make the Camaro seats have inflatable hip and side bolsters, heated (for grins) and get some better foam for long trips.

I bought everything, now I just need to have one panel on the seats replaced (wear spot as usual) and put it together. Cost me less then $75 for the materials to mod both seats.

Once they're together I'll do a full write up

Hey sean, hows it going bro?

Any chance you have some pictures of your buddies Monte with the seats. Id like to see the seats up close and how they look over all. Im planning on getting them this summer for my car.

Also I remember you saying when i was out there last that were getting a 12bolt soon, Im definately interested in the 10 bolt out of you car since I need one and I cant afford a 12bolt just yet. What gears did it have??

One more thing can you give me the address of that F-body salvage Yard out your way since theres some miscellaneous stuff that I need.

thanks a bunch sean,
-john

The seats i sat in up here were pretty comfy, maybe they would have gotten a little worse after you spent a few hours in them. Seats feel different to everyone though, because no 2 people are the exact same size.

MY advice to anyone buying seats is to sit in them before you fork over any cash.

Re: Anyone ever try these seats?

I put some R-1 seats in my car (kinda like those, but they're $400 a pair). I didn't use the universal sliders, I just put the new seats on the old sliders (it was a lot easier that way). I'm getting rid of them because I HATE them. Like everybody else says, you get what you pay for when it comes to seats. Don't buy cheap seats. Save up longer and buy better seats (Corbeau).
