Question Anyone black powdercoat stock 5 stars?

I'm keeping my TT2's but I have a set of 4 silver 5 star wheels just collecting dust until I get my E.T's for 2 of them. I'm toying with the idea of getting all 4 powdercoated black so I can have matching wheels when I run the E.T.'s (yes I'm just a tad **** )
I can also get them powdercoated fairly cheap by a friend so thats another plus. So anyone have any pics of black 5 stars? I tried a search but couldn't find any of these wheels done. Thanks

I suppose your best bet would be to tape them off really good, and paint them - then stick them on and see how it looks.

I am doing this with a set of my wheels...be prepared - its taking me about 3 hours to get them taped off to where I am happy with them - but I don't want to ruin the polised alum. behind them - nor do I want to try and get any paint off of them when I could have prevented it.

Thanks for the reply. If you like them, are you going to keep them like that or have them powdercoated? Any tips on what kinda' paint to use? Does the paint stick easily?

If I like them then I am just going to peel the paint off and go to town - and won't worry with taping off anything else on them...If I don't then I am just going to polish them back up good.

I am using Dupli-Color's graphite wheel paint for my case, but for your case you could just use any regular spray paint that's black, since that's what color you are using. As long as you get them covered with tape the paint will stick good enough for you to see whats going on - it won't be near as shiny as powdercoating, but you will get a very close idea if you like it or not.

Just go to town with some tape (covering your tires far enough out so that you don't get much overspray on them)...and then take a razor blade and trim the excess tape from around the wheel wherever you need too.

I should have mentioned - one reason it's taking me so long to tape mine off as well is because I am painting the backside/inside of them and the lug holes graphite anyhow, so I have to tape off on specific lines, so it shouldn't take you that long to tape yours off, just wastes a lot of tape.
