Any updates on the Targa Top'd F-Body??

I would SOOOO much rather a Targa Top then T-Tops... And some dude did it awhile ago and had some pictures...

I've been checking back (this forum) often to see updates as he said he was getting a fibreglass roof panel made up, but I havn't seen any updates in months...

So whats the word?! Where are our pics, how did it turn out? etc etc...

Thanks,

Jeff

It's all done. A friend is supposed to be posting pictures tonight.

It turned out awesome, I love it especially now that the weather has cooled off a bit. The roof only goes on when it rains. It took a little longer to complete because I re-did the entire car.

The roof is carbon fiber, not fiberglass.

Yes man... Post pics asap

I WILL does this mod... IMO way better then T-Tops... Also, have you made up any way to take the roof with you? Fit in the back seats or something like that?

And how much did it cost you to get the roof panel made up? And how are you securing it to the car?

Perhaps we can get a mold done, if you'd be so kind as to let us know exact diminsions...

Either way, congrats on the Targa and thanks for doing it!!!

I fold down the back seat and set the roof on top. Or I just leave it home.

I made the roof myself, it cost about $500 in materials.

It secures to the car using the T-top side latches, just like stock except 1 piece.

I have a mold, I can make you a roof if you decide to go this route.

Thanks for the compliments, wait for the pics- if you decide to go ahead with it, I'll be glad to be of any assistance!

Kick *** dude! I WILL do this Next year... It WILL be done, hehehe

I've already got just about the full suspension done (LCA's, SFC's STB and PHR) so i'm sure the missing links in the roof won't be a big issue...

I am a little considered with Drag Racing tho... On a really hard launch i'm sure the car will still flex a bit, and the latches may not hold...

Perhaps we'll just have to drag race with the top off?! hehe, problem solved...

I'm not familar with how the T-Top Latches work as i've never had a car with them, or had the pleasure of riding in a car with them alot... I do have a friend with a older Supra (89 Turbo) that has a Targa top and thats when I decided to go the Targa route instead of T-Tops, and now that you have done it, its a great guide...

Again, woohoo!!! And awsome work man... Now get those pics up

If you want to be so kind, you can zip them and email them to me as well jkelly95z@yahoo.com

Thanks Whistler!

Jeff

May I please Ask what size Rims are those, where did you get the sweat A$$ Front Bumper, and who made the carbon hood.
It looks sweet.

*************Whistler**************

Ok, here is a question i gotta know, where did you get that hood, and what kind of ground efx are those? they look kinda like the Stella's that i have only seen once, but have to have them, your hood looks sweet, well, the whole car is awesome, and would love to do the targa mod, but the boys at the Track probably would never let me run with it, plus i don't have the money or the ambition to go that far on the appearance of the car, i want a hood/ground efx, and a 10 second car that i can get milk with on the way home from the track. If you could just email me with the info i would be greatly appeciative, by the way, if someone were to want to order one of your roof panels, after they did this to there car, how much would you charge to make them one. I got a shop that i could do this at, so i guess it would just cost me the roof, and my time to cut up the car and what not, since it is a t-top already, it would be easy i guess. Dammit, now you got me hooked on the idea...oh well, i'm always doing something to the car.

Thanks in advance, and sorry about the whole long post thing, but now you got my interest sparked.

Jason

I will let Whistler fill you guys in on all the good details...
Those are 20's
He made the carbon fiber hood, and he will gladly make you one for the correct $$$
The nose is totally custom, can't but it anywhere...can you see a resembelance to a C5? Look closely...
He made the Targa top out of carbon fiber.
He also made my carbon fiber interior pieces...

Why wouldn't they let you run at the track with the targa?

It looks just like a hardtop with the roof on, except for carbon fiber, but if you painted it....
