Well you still have the part where it screws in. To get rid of this you unbolt that then weld in a plate in place of where it was. Smooth it over with bondo, sand, primer, and repaint. I had this done to mine a while ago and i think it looks amazeing.

I ve just done this last week.But what did you use to replace the antenna to keep the radio working?

That and i still get great receptin by just leaveing the wire that goes from the antenna to the car back by the spare.

You can also get on of those antennas that stick onto the window if you dont get good enough reception.
