air ride
air ride
I was looking into "baging" my car for the last few months. And i found a kit with eveything but heres my queston. There is air struts up front but they only have back for the back. how easy to bags break/rip? can i be on the street and get alll over my car with out worrie bout breakin them?
i was looking into this also, but didnt want to give up my front sway bar... with any kind of airbag setup, you have to accept the possibilty of a bag blowing... i think the best insurance you could have for if a bag breaks is to have the bags on seperate lines, so that if one breaks your whole car wont just drop... just the one corner. but even then, what good is that if it blows at 90..
bottom line?
from my experience with them, they could last for a long time or fail shortly after the install..

short of doing a dukes of hazard jump, or participating in a jump competition, i think the bags would be able to stand up to whatever you would be able to do to them by tearing *** around town and doing some hard launches..
The air bags form the big air bag companies are incredibly strong, they don't break. When I had my truck, it was lowered on bags with Air Ride bags. All the companies use Firestone Rubber Bellows for the bags, like I said before, they just don't break by themselves. Remember, 18 wheelers roll on these. The only thing that can hurt them is abrasion, not from the road, but if you have something rubbing on the bags(shock, frame, something metal), it will eventually wear through. I don't have them on my fbody, and don't want them, but as far as realistic streetability, the bags won't be the problem, start thinking about on board compressor air lines, valves, etc. There is the problems.
