Re: Air Ride

thank you...

i don't have any video but if someone can tell me how to post a quicktime movied my digital camera converts small videos to such so i could do short clips. as far as total i was sponsored by air ride but the complete cost of all the parts i have on my car would have come around to $3500 but it's not all really needed.

i'm running strut bags up front with the qa1 12 way adjustable billet struts. 3/8" line and big red valves (8 valves total for 4 way control so you don't have a cady type ride), 5 gallon tank, viair 450 compressor and the ride pro-e digital control with remote.

the only thing i don't have is the level pro which is basically like what was described above where it automatically levels using pressure adjusting sensors on the car....i might add it down the road but right now i don't see a use for it.

all i can say is the adjustment is great because i love my car lowered but with my lt's and 4" exhaust i drag on everything so now there really isn't much that's a concern when driving my car. definately has a learning curve with getting pressure right but it's one of the best mods i've done to my car yet.....alot of fun and a great ride.

Re: Air Ride

How is the performance asspect of it, does the car still handle good enough to whip around corners or no. looks great though, the best third gen I have ever seen.

yes but to do so it doesn't come cheap. you'll need 4 way setup which requires 2 valves per a bag (8) total. this will keep the "boat" llike feel that is caused by air transfer between bags during cornering. also, the 12 way billet struts on the strut bags (option) help with adjusting the settings greatly for ride height which also help this greatly. you could choose to replace your rear shocks/struts with the same setup using 12 way adjustables for control in the rear too which is also an option. the billet struts/shocks add roughly $900 onto the total package. you can get away without using them in the rear but i would use them for the front as it's a large difference in feel when adjusted right.

i would not recommend auto-x with this setup but for a street/strip car it works great....you could use it for auto-x but it just wouldn't make sense.

Re: Air Ride

I'm really curious to details as my car is currently all still apart before the engine gets here- and I was looking to upgrade from the factory equipment. The assembled K-member is just sitting there looking really bored...

i posted about this earlier....if you going to jump ditches or rag on your car then i wouldn't do it. if you want to do donuts in the parking lot and hit the track a few times once in awhile with normal street use it's great.

i really don't see someone spending $4,000+ on a suspension to beat up on the car but the feel of the car with 4 way of course hasn't changed a bit. it's as tight and responsive as it was with the springs and even coilover conversion i had.

Re: Air Ride

i'd highly recommend it. you can get started for as little as $600 and then upgrade as you grow with your funds or needs. i highly recommend their parts for someone who wants the adjustment.

8 gal tank is large for an f-body. i suppose if you want it in plain view you could do that....the two compressors aren't really necessary again but if you have money to blow why not. smc valves are nice but they tend to have problems with rusting and quality down the road....not to mention any setup i've seen using them has had twice the amount of wiring.

air ride isn't as cheap as some of the others which is the downside but their product and customer service is the best in their category.

Re: Air Ride

air ride big red valves.....if you want quick valves buy a truck. you'll overshoot your target air pressure, you won't be able to have any presets and you'll basically be so fast you'll have issues. you can't hop a camaro.
