aftermarket SS hoods...
aftermarket SS hoods...
does anyone have an LT1 SS hood from http://www.fiberglassfabricatorsinc.com/?
Thats a good price, but in the one pic they give you, it doesnt appear to line up with the headlights correctly. any feedback on this? Also can this be a functional ram air hood?
thanks

the front of mine sits about 3/8" below the lip of the nose of the car - if I increase the spacer height so it lines up, then the sides are higher than the fenders.
I had a body shop paint and install it and they were not impress with the quality or fit.
Shipping it back and getting a new one would have been too expensive.
you can see in this picture that the front of the hood looks tucked in under the nose - it's because the nose sits higher

so they hget a 10 out of 10 on price but a 5 on quality

Price was good, and since it is way below the price of other brands expect a few flaws.
I spent alot of time making my hodd fit as good as it does now, but I still would like it to fit better. I just don't see what else I could do for it though. If you notice in my pics the front corners are lifted a bit.
The hood can be made functional but I cannot find a detailed enough how-to to complete mine. I know the hood needs to be cut, I just don't know howmuch and where. So I won't make mine functional until I know this info for certain. I do have an airbox already though.
Try this site, www.usbody.com. Don't know of anyone who has one of their SS hoods, but it certainly looks like high quality construction and can be made functional. I bought an SS hood for my '94 z28 from fiberglass fabricators, inc. Was very disappointed in the workmanship and sent it back. My body shop's estimate to make it look good and fit right was $400! Others on this board have had excellent experience w/ their hood from FFI. Too much of a crap shoot for me!!! Hope this helps.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Well, I think im gonna pass on that hood... Seems like all of you are having alignment problems with it, and I dont want to be fooling around with that -- much.
Anybody know of a better one, even its a little more? I really dont want to fork out the 800+ GM wants, and thats not including paint

Try suncoast, just remember that any aftermarket hood will most likely have some fitment issues.
