about shift knobs...

about shift *****...

okai i've done very lil engine, some looks and a lil system, basically a lil bit of everything, but my friend got me a new shift ****. i've tried to take off the old one but it seems to be welded on???? i took off the button and found a spring and what looks to be welded on at the base the factory shift ****, if anyone knows how to remove it plesae post thanks

in the back of the shift ****(the side facing your dash) there is a large staple that needs to be pryed out. First, turn your key to the on position, put foot on the brake and shift it all the way down into second so you can get at it easier. THen once the staple is out you can simple slide the shift **** off of the post. Then with your foot still on the brake shift it back into park and turn the car off.
