97 and up center console in a 94 ?

Just installed a 97 console and the fit isn't quite right. I think I need to remove a boss on the under side of the console to get it to sit on the tranny tunnel. The back 2 bolts fit perfect but the front isn't sitting on the tunnel. The gap above the new console is somewhat hideous. I am guessing the trim bezel above must be larger. How has anyone else delt with this stuff? Any suggestions?

Have any pictures to show more detail on exactly what you mean about it not fitting right? There's a peg under the console that 98+ consoles have that go into a metal bracket behind the shifter, you can either cut the peg off or drill a hole for the peg. I think this is what you're talkin about under the console to sit on the tranny tunnel. The peg helps give the console more rigidity, so I kept it on mine and drilled through the metal bracket. The gap does suck, but an extra fluffy snowcap (the black plush ones) shoved to the back of the space actually fills it in quite decently. I've also seen some people have their favorite baseball hat in the gap "displayed"

I think you either need to drill out the hole as listed above, or you might be talking about the gap on the pass. side. For some reason the pass. side has a gap between the carpet and the console. I stuffed some insulation under my pass. side carpet to push it up closer to the console.

Forgot about the gap with the carpet on the passenger side, but yeh if that's the problem do like Z95m6 said and just stuff something against it. I think I used old socks.

Thats the one. I'll cut it. As far as attaching it to the front? I don't really like the size of the gap above the console and below the radio. I may mount a few gauges between to fill that "void"

I'll stuff it. to fill that side out,

All in all, I like the new console and the console lid is a better design.

I'd drill out the hole instead. The hole kind of acts like a aligning hole.

Yeh. It also helps make the center console more rigid, so it doesn't wobble back and forth between the seats as much.
