97+ center console

Just got one off ebay. For people who have installed these in their LT1, what did you do with all the space that was left between the console and the radio?

Thanks.

Im going to make a custom radio bezel out of fiberglass, or at least im gonna try.

im just going to pretty much extend the existing radio bezel by shaping some foam to the underside of it and then covering the whole piece in fiberglass. i may either throw an emblem on there or make a tray.

If you just want to do something easy, you can do something like this

This a fellow board members car, that tray came out of a mid 90s stang. You see fords are good for something

I used to put a small peice of carpet to hide the wires and other stuff. Im in the middle of putting a firebird dash in the maro right now though, so no more gap.

Naaz90, that is the pic I saw. I am thinking about puttin in a t/a dash or a 97+ Z dash, but money is an issue right now so it won't be for a while.

Cracks me up that I dug that console tray out of the junkyard I worked at and now everybody is using it. I am glad you guys like it. Very simple to install and removes the ugly gap. One of the days I will mold the sides to match...but other priorities right now.

I plan on using the Mustang piece too - it seems to be the best looking and most economical for now. I will probably build a metal box that fits perfectly and exactly how I want to later and paint it, but for now, the Mustang thing will work.

The funny thing is after what I went thru this winter with the motor, it should be a true statement.

The Mudstain piece could be made to work better if myself or someone actually took the time to try it. I just dont have the motivation at the moment. Maybe next winter...a little fiberglass, some paint...who knows what will come out
