Question 97 Anniversary Stripes Question

I recently purchased a 97 Camaro Z28 Anniversary car from Arizona, and the stripes on her are in great shape with the exception of the top of the faux air inlets. It's started to peel a bit there and some areas looked chipped away. Is there anything that I can do to prevent them from peeling further? It looks like it took the paint down to the primer when it came off the car...

Does GM make a touch up stick in hugger orange so I can atleast protect the chipped missing areas and clean her up??

Thanks for the help

Cool ZR

Wink

Your local Chevy dealer should sell touch-up paint. Just tell them your paint code (found in the glove box usually).

In 1999 Chevy brought out a "hugger orange" camaro to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 69 camaro or something to that effect. So you could buy orange touch up paint for a 99 camaro.

Cool then, I will have to go and check with the dealer tomorrow. I just figured with them being vinyl, I was probably out of luck.

Thanks

Well the stripes are vinyl so paint isn't going to help you. I have had 3 sets of stripes put on my car not because they faded but because they cracked off right were you said. Mine cracked in the same spots everytime and the cracking didn't increase it just stayed in the same spot. I just let it be after the 3rd time. I dunno what to tell you besides its happen to me and a few others. Good luck

Do you think it would be possible to carefully score and then pull away some of the area (very small) where it is peeling to stop it and then just sort of touch it up (either with paint or new vinyl?? I could repaint the hood and include the stripes in the basecoat, but the hood and paint is in great condition.

I am trying to remember wether the stripes are glossy or more of a matte finish.... It sure would be nice to clean that area up, it makes the car look untidy....

Thanks for the input
