95-97 Trans Am Owners-- Whats you choice for an aftermarket hood?

97 Trans AM looking for an aftermarket hood. Warbird? Cowl? What do you guys suggest and do you have pics? I do not want a cheap hood that will not mold right or the paint will not stay on. Looking for a nice aftermarket qaulity hood. The closer to Texas the better to pick up. Choices?

I havent seen it for the 93-97. Not saying they dont make it but never seen it.
I have a suncoast ws6 style and I love it. They make the one with the taller nostrils as well but IMO they just dont flow real well with the bumper on these cars so I opted the ws6. Great quality hood though.

No, they don't make the Mecham 4-louver hood for LT1's (93-97). I wish they did, but that is an LS1-era only hood.

Mecham's LT1 hood is a 6-louver design, but due to the lower-profile/clearance issues, the lovers are RAISED over the hoodline... not receesed into it like on the LS1.

Besides, all the Mecham hoods seem to cost ~$1000 for the fiberglass, and typically another $1000 to $2000 to have a shop fix the waves and warping. Once you fix the hood issues, yeah they're pretty slick... but $3000 for a hood that fits right is a bit much IMHO

Check out this one: http://vfnfiberglass.com/9397ramair1.JPG

It's a 4"-high Ram-Air/cowl. The one pictured is a bolt-on, although they are available in lift-off race style as well. If you are looking at a lift-off design, get the version that extends back to the windshield (which isn't possible with a normal bolt-on/swing up design due to the windshield wipers).

American Sportscar Design makes the regular LT1 Ram Air as well as the stinger version: http://www.americansportscar.com/cgi....pl?ta-400.jpg

Not my deal, but somepeople like it.

There's also a slick-looking hood called the War Bird out there somewhere. It's similar to the Predator, but the intake "nostrils" are angled back to fit the lines of the car better (the predator's intakes are flush with the hood line making it look a bit out of place).

Well, I don't have a Trans Am, but I do have a big block hood. The 98+ WS6 hood on a 93-97 Firebird is . I could have made something better looking by molding mud to a stock hood.

Why not go with the 95+ WS6 style hood?

http://www.ayresweb.com/wheels/hp/on..._lights_on.jpg

It looks like it belongs on the car......because it does.

And before someone tries to tell me there wasn't a WS6 style hood in 95, yes there was. It was on the 95 Comp TA. They were the first production cars to use the WS6 style hood. Anybody got a 95 Comp TA they wanna sell

LAst week I saw this hood being sold for 93 thru 97 Camaro and Trans Ams, they even had them for 92 cars, I don't know if they were any diffrent though as far as smaller lovers, but it looked the same. Also I don't think there is a hood clearence isue on LT1 and LS1, I have seen several people change their LT1 front ends for LS1 front ends and all claimed they were pefect matches, they did have to change frone fenders and lights though. My next project is to actually switch frnt ends and hood from a 94 to 98 up.

That raised WS6 looks good, I like hoods like the 98+ up because you can see the cowl while driving the car. I think that looks so sweet, like the 87-92 Formulas.

Damn that hood is sweet but it's for 98 and up. The only hood I like for 93-97 firebirds is the 96-97 WS6 hood. The 98 and up WS6 hood doesn't look right on 93-97's if you ask me.
