Re: 90 mm Hella Low Beams are in!

Yeah, I got them in. I'll get pics up ASAP. They are H9.
The low beams did not fit in as easily as the high beams because the housing is considerably deeper. I ended up having to cut a hole in the radiator support behind each lamp. I considered just putting the low beams inboard where there room for a deeper lamp, but in the end I couldn't do that because it not the right way (legally).
Also I have made a pair of supports for the top of the mounts that will work for both lamps. They came out really nice. I'll get on mounting the high beams soon and post when I have pics of it all done. Right now, car projects are taking a backseat to my wife's garden projects...

I'm looking at your set up and i'm thinking about doing these head lights myself. I'd like to have something thats DOT legal instead of the FF75's. How is your set up holding up? It looks like you have your angle aluminum bracket just screwed down into the plastic, is it still holding up or working itself loose? It looks like its not to difficult of an install but i hate to hack up the front anymore than i already have. Also since your pictures aren't working anymore did you have to cut out the stock head light mounting points out? I'd always like the option to go back to stock.

Its holding up great. Still on the original bulbs and the housings are like new.
The way I did it there is no going back to stock but I can't imagine wanting to do that anyway. The brackets are screwed through the plastic below with nylon locknuts on the other side so nothing is coming loose, especially with the upper bracket supports I made.
pics are still in the other post: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...=62272&page=18

Damn its tempting it really is. I just hate that you can't go back to stock. I might still do the mod anyways.

Well i have all the parts i need on the way and headed to my door. I'm looking at your setup Bud because its probably the best i've seen so far. I'm wondering how do you reach your adjusting screws on the top of your lights? it doesn't look like there is any room to get a wrench in there and adjust them.

I don't use a wrench, it takes a phillips screwdriver right on the front end of the adjuster (without the plastic shields in place).

Before I added the uppper brace the brackets were somewhat prone to flexing which made adjusting more difficult.

Then the plastic shields to clean it up.

Its so bright with the FF75 driving lights, I don't know why I even need the 90 mm high beams, but I'll put 'em in anyway since I have them. Thanks to Sam95Znotop and Z28nut who gave me the inspiration.
i like your custom air scoop thing you made

Looks good Bud. If you don't mind me asking where did you get the pws cooler from? You have a part number?

You wouldn't be interested in finishing off your look w/ a carbon fiber dual DGM fog light setup would you? I've ditched my PIAA lights in place of HID's (stk head lights) so I removed the DGM setup as well as I went SC this summer w/ a FMIC.

No thanks, I'm happy with the FF75s
The cooler is a B&M street rod cooler. I got it from Summit.

I have a question on the aiming process of these lights. Here is a part from Sam's guide. "The only interpretation you have to make with this procedure is what the top of the beam is. When you look at the beam pattern from these lights, you'll see that there is a band of kind of "orange" colored light above the cutoff. I have found that if you adjust the light aiming the whiter part fo the beam like described above, they are a little on the high side. I then adjusted the top of the "orange" band to the correct height and I think it is perfect."
So do you adjust the top of that band that goes like this / to the 2.1" below horizontal? That seems pretty low to me.

Then on the vertical, here's Sam's summary again. "Horizontal: The point where the cutoff starts to slope upwards should be aimed straight ahead."
So you also are supposed to move the part of the light with the / to dead center? if so man i really need to adjust my lights because they both meet up in the middle but the lights look like they're pointed straight a head. I guess i have a lot of adjustment if i'm interpretting this right.

Any help explaining the aiming process? with the light cut offs my pass. side really gets a lot more light than the drivers side its kind of annoying. It doesn't really make sense that the lights pattern goes like this ___/
So i adjusted them so the middle of the vertical slant of light is straight a head of the head light. By doing this though the light pattern is ___/ ___/
and so most of the light is concentrated on the pass. side. Did i do something wrong?
