78 z28 hood

It looks like the hood scoop on my 78 Camaro could be functional, but it isn't.. it's a solid piece with some false mesh netting.

When I open the hood I see I can remove the scoop via a few bolts. Is there anything I can do to keep a similar look but actually have it take in cold air?

Cut out the fake mesh plastic at the back of the scoop. You might want to put something back in there though so you don't suck in alot of crap, and midgets.

Heh, I'll keep that in mind.

I was thinking of simply cutting it out but wasn't sure if it'd offer any benefit. I'll go ahead and give it a try.

Thanks.

You could always just leave the hood off too though.

That always drove me crazy on my old 78. Let me know how it turns out.
