Question 5000K or 7,500K HID bulbs?

I'm going to buy an HID conversion kit. I'm trying to figure out what kind of bulbs to get. I want to have the blueish color but not too much.

I'm trying to figure out what kind OEM HIDs are, such as the ones that Audi and Honda (S2000) have.
I always notice S2000 headlights are very blue.
Does anyone know what kind they are?

if you pull behind me and blind me with your unnecessarily bright HID headlights im gonna get behind you, follow you til you park, and smash them

i swear to god, its not safe, those HIDs are so bright it's blinding when they are coming at you, and when they are behind it's impossible to drive cause they bounce of the rearview....especially SUV's with HID's, cause my iroc is low, and they are high, it's a direct line into my rearview and into my eyes

I say if you can't beat them join 'em. Get some hid's yourself he he. Actually, I'm thinking about getting some too. I bought some auto optiks housings and put some sylvania silver stars in them and I still can't see anything at night in this car. Our lighting sucks on the 93 - 97 Camaro's. I don't know how the earlier camaro lighting is.

HID's make great use of my Wing, Can't see anything in the rearview, but the lights can't shine in my eyes either,

OEM hid is 4300k - 5000k

BMW has some 6000k HID systems now on their newer stuff

If you want blue hue but not purple hue, get the 5000k

There is definitely a lack of light on my 94Z. They could have done a much better job on these. What all is available out there to convert to that is relatively easy to install. Appreciate input from those of you who have made conversions. What's good what's not good....what breaks the bank account and what's reasonable.

e-Bay is always a good source...

As far as an install page...really all you need to know is to take out the 9006 bulbs from the original housings, and silicone the HID bulbs in with high temp silicone, then wire it up however the HID kit suggests.

There is no such thing as a rating > 6000K......7500 and 8000K kits are a) coloured glass on a 6000K kit or b) use a coloured gas.

You actually lose output with any rating above 6000..........but you gain a lot of blue/purple hue, almost too much IMO.

As well, if you are using reflector based optics with the HID kit, as I assume you are with the Camaro, you will have severe glare and will blind other drivers......

How do I know? because I'm doing it right now in my truck lol....but have a set of Denali projectors on order, but still....the cut off shield in those will not be sufficient to get a proper beam cutoff and I'll probably have to modify them.

Well, they all have a colored glass, even the 5000k.... but I do agree that > 6000k does SEEM not as brilliant.

Limo tint gets rid of that problem real quick. I would do HID, but too much $ for lights and being in the city doesnt really justify the purpose of them a whole lot. Might do a cheaper PIAA conversion though...

Actually, limo tint is ILLEGAL everywhere, and even though people use it anyway, they can't limo tint the windshield, which is where the blinding HID lights always shine. Unless you from somewhere where the traffic flows from the front end of your car to the side windows of another car, I believe its called T-boned ville.

Well instead of looking at the headlights of oncoming traffic, why don't you just look at the taillights ahead of you. Thats where you should be looking anways, is it??
