I had a crazy idea for a 4thgen. Back in the late 80's, GM released a handful of factory "Notchback" Trans Am's. Here's a link to see exactly what I'm talking about: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/165537/3 I know these cut weight considerably due to the removal of the heavy *** rear hatch glass.

On the 3rdgen forums, specifically thirdgen.org, there was enough demand for a company to make aftermarket fiberglass notchback's.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to make a photoshop of a 4thgen "Notchback" just to see what it would look like. I think it would benefit people that are really serious about cutting weight for racing, and for people that just want something different.

I can't decide if I like it. I think it would look better if the bottom part was molded in with the rest of the hatch.

 

Does any one know if that thing will fit if the car has a 4 point roll cage/

 

well dosent that notchback just replace the rear glass? i guess i like it would like to see pictrues from in side the car anybody have any pics?

 

Always looked to "Del Slo" for me. It wasn't too bad on 3rd gen birds though.

I really don't think it looks all that bad,but for the money you sure can do alot of other things.Maybe one day when I have 900.00 bucks laying around I might order one.

from a styling stanpoint i like the bigger back window , but then again lol
