4th gen glass!!!

ok just a little rant. i currently have my 4th, 4th gen. three of the four cars have been 1995 models. My 98 did not have this problem but all three 95s did as well as most other older ones ive seen. the frickin windshields are always scratched to hell from crappy wipers i guess and the door glass is always scratched up from the felt strips deteriorating. No other cars i have had or seen had these problems besides 93-97 f bodies. its just a pet peve to see glass with scratches in it all the time but i doubt ill ever replace the glass due to the expense of it.

If your windows have scratchs the tint may bring out the scratchs in the window maybe not much though. When I got my rear window tinted I noticed the my rear window had scratchs.

Agreed, tint definitely makes it worse.

I've seen in the Eastwood catalogs that they have a glass polishing kit. Has anyone ever tried this?

Re: 4th gen glass!!!

My '94 has some scratches on the side windows from the old felt wearing out but since I replaced the felt with the newer style window molding I havnt gotten any more scartches, but I havent had any problem with my windshield. My Moms '95 has a nasty scratch across the windsheild from the wipers, and some minor scartches on the side windows.

Its just one of those things you have to deal with, when you own an f-body

I hear that once you break that original seal off your original windshield, it will never seal as well again

Re: 4th gen glass!!!

Why don't you just use a toothbrush and some water or silicone and clean the dirt off the felt so you don't get anymore scratches?

As for the windshield... don't use old wipers?

Re: 4th gen glass!!!

My 94 does that too. Is it usually on the inside or outside cuz if its the inside it will rip the sh** out of the tint. I had some jackass bust my driver side window out and steal my radar detector but the sh**head forgot the adapter that goes in the cigarette lighter. Insurance didnt like the thought that I had one and dont claim items inside the car or not permanetly attached and proffesionally installed. But 50 bucks got me a new scratch free window. Pissed me off though.

How much does it cost to fix the felt?
