Re: 2nd Gen Question On Vinyl Top

You need a chrome strip removal tool. It's a flat kinda L-shaped piece of metal. It slides in between the glass and the chrome, then you move it to the side, and it will release the clip without damaging anything. It is very simple with the right tool. The rear window trim is done the same way. As for the chrome behind the door, I'm guessing that you are talking about the part with the window seal, pull the rubber window seal out of the channel, and that chrome trim and also the rain gutters are mounted with screws. Once all that is out of the way, if it is the original top, it will probably also have tack nails holding on in the window channels. Pull those out and start stripping. I did my '70 RS and it was not too difficult at all.
Hope this helps.
