245/40/18 on a 9.5 inch rim

Im getting tires for my new rims. I hear people saying 275 is best. But i also hear people do use 245 still. Does anyone have pics of this? I just want to see how it looks with the 245 on a 9.5 rims.

thanks

A 245 on a 9.5" wide rim is too narrow. You will get a lot of sidewall "roll-in" towards the rim and it will look like your driving on rails. Go with a 275 or 285 width.

if you are getting 9.5 wide rims, might as well go 275

I definately would not go any smaller than 275. If I did it over again I would be going to 285 as I will do with my next set of tires...

I just put on 18x9.5 chrome Z06 rims ALONG with 245/40/18 Yokohama AVS Sport. These f*kers stick to the ground like there is NO tomorrow. My 2 cents, 245/40/18 is fine and it looks top notch. I'll have pictures of me and a few girls along with my car up soon. Waiting on a nice day so they can sit on the t bar and smile real nice for me

Do yourself a favor and get the 275/35/18's. Trust me they will look much better than the 245/40/18's.

The 245's probably look great, but the 275's will look awesome!

no way will a 245 fit, i had a hard time fitting 275's on a 9.5" rim. i think that 265 is the min for a 9.5" rim. but you could safely go with 295-30's or a 285-35. odd sizes i know, but they will look like they are supposed to be there.

ummmmmmm yeahhhhh, did ya get the memo???

I just put that I am running a 245/40/18 with no rubbing. Last time I checked, that MEANS a 245 WILL fit on a 9.5 inch rim. Come to VA, I'll show ya, really I will. Traction is GREAT!

Yes a 245/40/18 will fit on a 9.5" rim. Actually, most manufacurers list an 8-9.5" rim as working fine for a 245/40/18 tire. It is on the very limit of the size range, but it is approved.

If you have some 245/40/18 tires already I would go ahead and use them. If you are buying new tires, I would get the 275/35/18 tires. They are a perfect fit and will look much better, and perform better as well.

I am debating the same thing. I have 9.5 inch rims but I'm not sure if I want the 275's up from because of "tramling" (when the car pulls more b.c the tires are so big). My brother has 275's all around and his car is everywhere. Would 245's up front do the same thing?

In defense of my car, I would like to say that it is "everywhere" only on a VERY bad stretch of I-95 from West Haven - Milford CT.

Other than that, there is some tramlining on some spots, but I got used to it. Doesn't bother me much. On most normal roads and highways, I don't get it at all.

You want to talk about pulling? Remove all your power steering fluid, get some 18 inch rims, and then you'd be driving a tank with no steering at all. hahaha But really, my car does pull a little more now with the bigger rims. Its not very noticable and it can still be done with one hang so yes it pulls more, no it doesn't pull that much more. Good luck on your choice man!

White Z 4 Show you still get tramling with your 245's up front?

yea, I sure do. I need some new LCA's and I'm sure the rest of my suspension needs a little upgrading to. I just got an alignment which helped out a lot.
