1996 Camaro SS "Revised Spoiler"?

I've been reading how the 1996 Camaro SS had an updated rear deck lid spoiler.

However after Looking at countless rear end and side pictures of 1996 Camaro Z28's, SS, RS, and Base Coupes, I cannot seem to see what is different. It looks like the SS spoiler is the exact same as the other 1996 models..

Can someone please explain exactly what is "revised" cause the shape looks the same to me. Thanks

Unlike the regular spoiler which is flat, it's raised like a duck's bill a little, just like the later SS spoilers, with the exception that there are no center posts.

The 1996 and 1997 SS models have a spoiler that has a lip to it where as the stock spoiler goes straight across the back. In 1998 to 2002 the SS models had an even more pronounced lip than did the 96-97 SSs and also had two pillars to provide like fake supports for looks only.

Here is a shot of the 96-97SS spoiler...

This is my friend Mike's '96 SS: I love the LT1 SS spoilers. I like em' more than the LS1 SS spoiler.

i'm planning on getting a '96-'97 SS spoiler once I scrape some cash together to get it painted. They're much more subtle than the '98+ SS spoilers, which everyone and their mother seems to want.

I believe the 96-97 SS spoiler is just a stock spoiler with a "cap" bonded to the top. I use to have one and if you looked at under side you could see where they're actually 2 pieces. This is why the spoiler looks so much like a stocker because it is in a way. I sure wish i had mine back instead of this 98+ SS spoiler.

Just a note here; but the guy that owns that shop is a total D-Bag...
