i was just curious for those people who have done the mod, how hard is it to cut those studs off. am i gonna have to bend it to fit the countour of my 97 camaro? i bought the emblems thinking they would have double sided tape on em and everything. no clue i had to cut these off. any input would be nice. thanks -Phil

 

Any grinder will take them off.
If you can figure out a way to secure it in a vise....without marking up the emblem....you could use a hacksaw to cut it off but a grinder would make a nicer (smoother) job.

The bending is a little more of a trial and error process but it doesn't take a lot to get the right contour.

 

I would think to drill the fender. I wouldnt want someone to come by and be like hmmm those are nice 1st gen emblems and then there gone or they would just fall off.

 

I have them. I clipped the studs off and smoothed them out with a metal file from the garage. I used 3M double sided tape. They went on real easy.

Just make sure that they sit PERFECTLY on the panel or they will come off. Any part that pushes itself off will bring the rest with it.

 

Agreed. I installed mine without reshaping the emblems and now they're partially coming off. This weekend I'm going to pull them off, reshape them to the fender, and reinstall with some 3M double sided tape. 3M emblem tape is some strong stuff.
