The stock size on the 16x8s salad shooters were 245/50-16s.

I think the v-6s and some Zs came with 235/55s.

You could probably check www.tirerack.com and see what the rim width requirement is for a 225 is.

Just out of curiosity, Why would you want to put thinner tires on?

i always say...the bigger the better

unless u already had those tires laying around or got them for a really good deal, then thats understandable...

He may want the narrower tires for the winter...that would be my guess...I think 225's might be pushing it, but may work...

....225's are about 8.86 inches wide where 245's are about 9.65 inches wide...when you go too narrow on a rim that could let to problems....on my jeep I have 10.5 inch wide tires on an 8 inch rim and that is too narrow so one time when i was offroading i broke the bead and ended up with a flat...so check specs first

Thank you everyone for your prompt responses. I need to know for two reasons: A. I'm debating on removing my entire power steering set-up (clean up engine bay and not to mention the space I will have to work on my ride) B. Winter is upon us so the narrower the tire the better.

You can go two up and two down. 245/50 is one up, 255 the max size without issues. You can go down to 215 if you like. Most professional tire stores have a tire sizing booklet for each size rim. I don't know if the newer converts come this way, but my 94 Z came with 235/50's, 2.73's and a 108 mph limiter.
