what top end for a turbo lt1

I am planning on a turbo lt1 and needed a few questions answered before I start buying parts.
I want to do a 383 turbo running a yet to be decided amount of boost but I was wondering if I keep the stock heads and cam and only replace the bottom end (for reliability) will the top end keep up with the new displacement? I heard you dont need incredible heads or an outrageous cam to make power when going FI. Or would it be better to go with the 355 so it would be basically a stock motor except the forged bottom end? I really wanted the 383 because I am going for the t-76 (unless banks shows up with something better in their twin setup pretty soon) and I dont want to rev too high maybe 5500-6000 would be plenty untill my budget allows for the heads and cam buildup ,if its even needed, and I figure the 383 would give me more low end and if the turbo and heads could keep up it would give me more top end as well simply from the increase in engine size, but if this is the wrong approach lemme know. Thanks.

You would be better off spending any crankshaft money on getting the top end done, and sticking with a 355 (lowered compression forged pistons, heads/valves that will take the heat and also lower the compression, and a turbo friendly cam).

It would be nice to have a new crank, but thats not the weakest link in the LT1, and will probably be fine with a modestly setup turbo. If you keep the RPM down you might be fine sticking with the 2 bolt mains, but saving $ here and there at the risk of losing it (depending on your power/RPM levels) is a personal choice.

You should do fine in the forced induction forum I'd think.

Basic rule of thumb, low compression engine + lots of boost = more peak power, with a little more slugishness off the line (not so bad with cubes of a V8 probably)

Higher engine compression with less boost = less peak power but better throttle response.

Hi Bud! Actually the FI forum would be the proper place for this topic. And i see that you already have the same thread over there being discussed so i will close this one.

Thanks.
