Question Torque Plus intake gaskets... these can't be for real?

ok, maybe I'm out of touch or something, but I just don't understand this idea:
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...01&prmenbr=361

maybe in a Carb'd or Throttle-body injection design, but in a direct-port set up (LTx/LSx/vortech/etc..) this would be pointless I imagine.

With GM, and more substancially F1 cars, using a "stream" of fuel directed at the valve, I wonder why this concept would even be considered.

I get the tornado idea... plenty of schmucks out there can pop one in their intake track.

But replacing an intake manifold to install this product seems like it's targeting people who should know better.

Anyone here used this product? Any comments?

thats an old idea/trick (at least 15+ years old gimmick)

i didn't think they were marketing this anymore

i tried this out only one time on dyno long time ago when i 1st got dyno..it lost TQ/HP ..i think it was around or close to 8 to 10 hp ranges..i have that data , a lot of trouble to find this test though

tried the half-sphere screens made into QJet carb gaskets
gimmick that had same results lost power

i had SS racer try the fuel magnet gimmick also
tried it in both directions

you would probably have to have an overly-rich carb mixture in a low RPM operating range to see a small benefit ??

maybe even a relatively cold engine temperature ???

-------------------------------------------------------------------

i just tried the carb Tornado version on Chris LaQuerre's wife
engine on the dyno Saturday

383 cid SBC
made a very small HP gain top end
total average HP/Torque was a little lower though

the carb Tornado version has made a few HP/Torque number gains every once in awhile...mostly on gasoline engines

never has made any gains yet with methanol engines in 6 engines tested so far..so i quit trying Tornado until yesterday

i ordered out of interest in flow and dyno tests people were wanting to see results on enginetips.com message boards

checking the "carb version Tornado" on SF-600 FlowBench
on 4.000 Bore Flow Fixture with digital swirl meter reading in inch/ounces.....just placing Tornado ontop of bore fixture it immediately "PEGGED" my digital swirl meter
at only 2 inches of test pressure

tremendous amount of swirl ...i can definetly verify the TV ad's
segment where guy places Tornado over plexiglass cylinder a you see fan start spinning

but when you put a cylinder head on the bench and attach an intake with a carb on it then put the Tornado ontop of the carb while flowing ...the digital swirl meter shows absolutely NO swirl you can measure below carb throttle bores
and i tried test pressure all the way to 48 inches
still no swirl making it past carb bores

so the only effect the Tornado might possibly have in carb application would be somewhat mixing/atomizing of fuel mixture near booster/venturis.
because no swirl is below carb in intake
however, i have seen small gains in TQ/HP curve in a few engines
that must be result of booster swirl/mixing action ?

with EFI air duct Tornado model..no idea if its a gimmick in that application ???

tried it on my Chevy Suburban for 3 months , no gas mileage difference
