is there any way to do this???

i bought a cam off another board member...it is supposed to be a hot cam but i want to be sure...i measured the lift with a micrometer and it came out to .525 with a 1.6 rocker ratio...but is there anyway i could test for duration at home??? if so could i also test the LSA too??? Hopefully Injuneer or somone who knows this type of stuff could help me out with this...on the back of the cam it only has "110 97L" stamped into it when everyone else says the HOT cam should have 586 somewhere on it plus that type of production run #....anyone that can help its greatly appreciated

Grab yourself a solid lifter, a degree wheel and a dial indicator.

Grab the procedure for cam dial-in from this site:

You will be able to get all the specs you're looking for.

In a nutshell, you are going to rotate the crank shaft until the
lifter moves 0.050" in the bore. Write down the number on the
degree wheel.

Rotate the crankshaft again until the lifter decends and the
reading on the dial is 0.050" Write down the number on the
wheel. This will give you degrees of duration at 0.050"

The max lift is easy. You can also find the intake/ exhaust lobe
centerline quite quickly too.

For LSA, grab the centerlines of both intake and exhaust lobes,
and subtract the numbers. You should end up with a number
between 106-115 degrees.

thanks alot man....i kinda figured you could do it that way with a degree wheel....but is there anyway easier to do this without having to pull my stock motor apart first...any way to check it, say on teh work bench?....i dont wanna pull my motor apart and find out i gt ripped then not have my car...
