t-56 tranny problems with 5th gear

I posted in the ls1 forum, but I thought I would get a better response here.

Here is the details of what happened. Okay, to save time you can follow this link

If you dont want to read, this is basically what happened:

This happened after I was locked out of all the gears going about 85+ and trying to shift from 4th to 5th. I was at moderate acceleration and it was not WOT. I have never smoked the clutch etc and it is a 02 m6. I was unable to shift into any gear (with the exception of 1-2. I pumped the pedal several times and still could not shift. I had to pull over, I thought all was well until I put it in 5th.

If my car is in 5th gear, the shifter will physically move on its own about 1/2 inch forward when I give it gas, and it will move back to its original position when I let off. This doesn't knock it out of gear or anything, but I need to know if this problem is serious or not. This happened after I was locked out of all the gears going about 85+ and trying to shift from 4th to 5th.

Thanks

Jason

Didn't read your other post, but based on what you have written here, I think that if you're not having any more problems, you're alright. I've heard several times about LS1's (mostly '99's though) that have some weird spot inbetween 4th and 5th that is some sort of abyssal zone, where you're not in any gear and you can't move the shifter without alot of force. Funky stuff. As far as the shifter moving under accelleration, that's just torque. It's normal for it to move (some). If you're not having cronic problems, I think you're alright.
