Suggestions on heads?
I've been saving up for either some Brodix Track 1 or AFR(not sure which) heads for my Nova. The car is set up mostly for drag-drag suspension, cage, seats, etc and I'll be working my way up to a 250ish shot of nitrous. Right now I'm using an old school set of "Double Hump" heads and have ran the time in my sig, off the bottle. I'll be spraying 100 shot this coming weekend if all goes well. Anyway, like I said I'm saving for some good heads. But I was wondering if anyone has used the Dart Iron Eagle heads? I was thinking maybe some 64cc chambered 215s? They sell brand new on ebay for around $680-$700 and it's hard to resist that price compared to the $1300 Brodix/AFRs. How do you think the Darts compare to the other heads? With the right cam I'm hoping to run in the 6's in the 1/8 mile. Should I keep saving or just shoot for the Darts? I know they weigh more but if that's the main difference I'm willing to sacrifice it. Thanks for the help!
The choices you have (AFR and BRodix) are really good either will get you top notch results. The Iron Eagles I have no experience with. But dont rule out the Pro Action heads, they really are nice as well and a little easier on the pockets.
To tell you the truth I have experience with Pro Actions only on one set, but the set we bought was very nice, we bought it bare (alum. 650$ a few years ago) and had them ported and worked for 2.05/160 valves. We didnt get a flow sheet but they were 210cc heads as cast and they flowed 303/208 cfm @ 600 lift. The guy that ported them had never seen a set either and was impressed by em, he thinks with some more time he could have gotten 320 + in the same area. We put them on a 12:1 383 with a mild solid roller (245/256 .050, 720/740, 108) and the sucker flat flew in our 3100 # 92 Camaro, our first pass netted a few high tens (with my crappy driving) but my bud has a freind who piloted it to a 10.31 @ 138 mph!!! We tore the car back apart to change trannys but the heads looked absolutely fine after about 20 passes on a mild 150 shot and about 3000 miles of around town driving
. My car has the AFR 190s and they are really nice as well, they flowed slightly less than adv 252/193 cfm @ .550. But a clean-up job brought them about 5 to 8 more cfm throughout. The castings between the AFRs and the PLs look almost like they were made by the same guys....lol, Of course I think the Brodix heads just look fast setting still..lol

What do you think about these plain ol Trick Flows? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2428031197
the only i dont like about the proactions cast, is that the exhuast flow its great. I mean 194@.6000 is good and all, but compare that afr 210's 230cfm. We're going to use some proaction 235's on our T76 turbo'd 388, but i plan on porting the crap outta the exhuast side.
The Iron Eagles are a very nice head! I have two buddies that are runnig them and for the costs flow very well after worked. Just remember the costs you save by going with cast iron heads will almost be cancelled when you go to have someone port them. Cast iron heads always cost more to port. If you have ever ported a cast iron head you will no why cylinder head porters charge more.
But if your looking for the highest flowing SBC cylinder head thats out there not to mention these heads are producing the highest power out of a SBC.
