For those of you that build cylinder heads, has anyone got an opinion on a Rimac Spring Tester vs. a Buxton Engineering Unit. I know Rimac is the old industry standard but the Buxton seems like a well built piece for $140 more.

 

We use the Buxton On head unit at the track, and it is basically flawless. ZERO complaints.

Sorry I can't give you any experience with the bench units, as I think thats what you're looking for.

Buxton makes a great product.

How much are you looking to spend on a bench model? Intercomp is a really nice unit but aint exactly within everyone's budget or maybe I should say.... it's not necessarily a necessity for everyone.
Can't comment on Rimac either as I've never personally used one but there's bound to be someone here who has.

I have found the Rimac for $619 - $650 and the Buxton for $795.
I will be making the purchase here soon and just don't want to have regrets. Right now I am leaning towards the Rimac because of the cost and I have been to several shops that use this particular unit with no complaints. I definately don't want to spend more than $800 at this time on a spring tester.

 

Take a look at tavia machine and the smaller ones tehy have to offer.. I have used a rimac before and compared to the little highly portable tavia product..You will need some dial calipers and a vice but you can keep in the trailer is a drawer..I compared the readings to the rimac i used to work with at a buddies reman plant and it is dead on..

I used the buxton once when i put together my canted valve heads..Very nice unit but think of it like putting in a bryant crank in s stock rebuild..Is the extra cost worth it to you and the intended use?
