SOmeone please check my math

Alright, 918 beehive springs coil bind @ 1.140". Now if the springs are installed @ 1.740" with a .628" lift cam at max lift the spring is compressed to 1.112" which is .028" lower than coil bind. If I install these springs @ 1.800" that will put me at about .032" above coil bind. Is this right??

That's right, 0.628" lift is too much for the beehives. Also boosted motors need harder springs.

What if I get a new set of the 918s and set them up at 1.800" instead?

My 918's are set up at 1.8" and they work fine, but my cam is .555, .570. I have heard ppl say to not go over .600" lift with beehives.

Comp specs those springs at 1.800 installed height and 130#.

They list open pressure as 333 @1.150 or .650 lift.

Your .628 is within its range. Run them as they suggest @ 1.800.

I think ppl say to not go over .600 not because of coil bind, but because of the fact that valve float may be more of an issue at higher rpms. Thats why they make stiffer springs with a higher closed seat pressures so that the valves will close faster at higher rpms. I've never ran an engine with beehives over .600, but maybe someone else has?
