SBC EFI Intakes: LT1/4, Holley StealthRam, TPIS MiniRam, GM RamJet, etc.

It looks like the TPIS MiniRam is a knock-off of the LT1 intake, but it has the option of larger ports (MiniRam II). One site that I found has a cleaned up MRII flowing 292cfm. With the outsides of the runners welded up, they have it flowing 321cfm.

The HSR (Holley Stealth Ram) supposedly flows 275cfm. I saw on the thirdgen.org board where somebody had a welded one up and increased flow to 367cfm.

What kind of results have members on here gotten out of the LT1/4 intakes?

The HSR has longer runners (~6") and a larger plenum than the other options.

I don't know the stats of the GM RamJet intake. The runners looked to be about 4.5" long and the plenum was a bit taller than the LT1. It uses the round throttle body from the Vortec trucks and LS1.

Another option that I have been thinking about a bunch is converting a single plane intake to EFI with a 90-110° elbow, but I just prefer the forward facing intake design and the look of the "box" intakes. I have also thought about doing the single plane intake and building another plenum that will bolt on where the carb would go and having 1 or maybe even 2 throttle bodies mounted on the front. Maybe do a progressive linkage somehow with the smaller (stock twin 48mm maybe??) throttle body opens during normal driving, but after a certain pint a larger (monoblade?) TB opens up to allow all the airflow needed. Or maybe get a ZR1 throttle body or the progressive linkage used on Schubeck's 904cid Hemi? (http://www.schubeckracing.com/images/linkagecopy.jpg) I don't know, it's late/early...

You should check out last month's SuperRod magazine with dyno tests of most all TPI Chevy intakes. I've never seen such a comprehensive test performed before. At the bottom of the hp chain was the factory TPI intake...at the top was the TPIS MiniRam II. The Holley SR wasn't very far behind the MRII in hp and had a torque peak advantage with its longer runners.

I have heard of that article, but haven't been able to find it. Thanks!

I just wish they would have included a converted LT1 intake

Do you have a link to the tgo article? I would like to check it out. I just finished converting a stealthram for use on my lt1. I hope to have it running in the next week or two.
Thanks for the info.
