removal and replacement of governor on 700R4/4L60 transmission, quick questions
I had this thread in LT1 tech, with no sucess. I figured this might be somewhat advanced tech, so if this thread should not be here let me know and I'll delete it.
Anyways, take a look at my other thread:

Anyone have any answers to that?
Thanks guys

What are you looking to do. My 93 had the lightest weight governor already inside of it. The only nest step you can do is put in lighter springs that press the weights out.
What you do is take a tool of choice and pry off the round cover that is about 3.5" round and slide out the governor. It is geared so you have to turn it to unmesh the gear from the other.
You will need to drop the trans about 3 inches or so since the governor is too long to take out completely with the trans bolted up the crossmember. About a quart or so of fluid will come out.
I changed the springs in mine and it made a world of differences in when and how the car shifted. It raised my shift points red line shift and part throttle shift as well.
If you are on a stock program in terms of red line fuel shut off it will need to be changed if you play with the springs or weights.
Hope that is what you wanted to know.

It does not need to be dropped completely, what i mean is that you do not have to take all of the six bolts from the bellhousing.
All that you have to do is place a jack at the rear tail area of the trans and support the trans and engine assembly as you take off the trans crossmember. Then lower your jack about three inches or so until you can slid out the governor.
Not a real big job in task or in time. Takes more time to put the round cover back on then it seems to do the whole entire job itself.

I don't know how I'd do that or if I even could do it
