I had a hell of a time with this '94 getting it to fit in the fender well, it's simple when ya figure it out.
Real simple .

Still using a MAF (Z06).

Didn't want all the hot air,so I put it in the fender where the K&N CIA normally mounts. Down where the flap door is. It fits and is not all jamed up sooooo.
Your's looks nice though.

Exactly what i did. Kinda looks like a regular 7" filter uless you look close. Instead of putting in the filter from the bottom of the car like you do with the 7" filter, i mocked a few things up and put it in from the top. Looks nice and works great. This is def the way to go if you have a 1300 cfm TB. Although im not sure if the MAF can only flow around 900 cfm without the screen . Anyway.....

Get a ZO6 it comes close but I think ya will have to retune. The shop car was tuned with it.
Don't know if it will make a BIG difference but have been told 12HP,and me I'm greedy.

Next best thing: I have a "snorkel" attatchment that I use for the track. Its just some 4" mandrel bent tubing that I put together. I modeled the "snorkel" after this (Steve Quinn):

Just to throw out there for those that haven't considered this: a couple friends have cut metal out of the "tray" area to fit half of the filter above and half below the "tray" area (mounted vertical).

Now, here's a question that we will probably not know anything soon: ¿More filter surface area +10ºF or less filter surface area -10º? Which is better? Probably a moot point for most us. However, the fun is being creative, right?

Do you have the maf tables to go with the Z06 maf? If so can you send them my way or see if you can get the table they used to calibrate the Z06. I have heard that the Z06 maf is no good unless you have ALOT of tuning experience of find someone who has the table already calibrated for a similar setup. Let me know

Re: Pressure Drop in Intake System @ WOT

Just a heads up. The Z06 MAF has been a litte tough to tune with. Sometimes it doesn't like big changes (rescaled) and gets a little bonkers (Texas term). However, it gets the job done for my motor. FWIW, I didn't do any testing before/after with the stock vs. ported housing vs. Z06 MAF.

Like racerdude, I'll take any edge I can get, unless it proves to go the wrong way. Probably wouldn't know unless I spliced in a stock MAF housing, but its a good sign that the LS6 motor uses it. Probably not the greatest logic, but I haven't been proven otherwise, yet!

Like I said I am greedy.I'll take 10% more area AND 10* cooler air and I believe the cooler air would do more. When ya are running a DCR of 9+ on pump gas ya need all the cool air ya can get and trying to push 700HP ya need all the AIR ya can get.
My answer is D-- all of the above.

No gots-- I had it tuned TO the tune of 400.00.Once it's tuned it don't need much changing. After all I ain't running Pro stock and A/D and fuel pressure is all I do.
Any more and I would pop for a Fast or GenVII

Brandon: That's what I did. My stock MAF was already close to where I wanted, so I just did some arithmetic and changed each cell through LT1edit. Do what ya gotta do when you're low on cabbage and in dire need of more airflow!

Don't see why not if they were spot on and ya figure it out against your stock one.Might get ya pretty close but a dyno tune is the answer when ya can get it done.
Bryan don't like them so ya might be able to get, beg, steal, buy?? a set up from Ed Wright 'cause he is running one and runs in the low ten's.

Re: Pressure Drop in Intake System @ WOT

Just out of curiousity, has anyone ever flow tested or know what the Z06 maf is capable of flowing?

Re: Pressure Drop in Intake System @ WOT

The highest I have seen on a MAF is 1000cfm thru the SLP 85mm with the screen out... problem is I don't know what depression that was at, I assume 1.5"hg like always.
