offsetting crank

i read something about offsetting the crank. It was in hot rod mag. and had a special with 25 new trick to building an small block. Looked very intresting, i can explain more when i get the mag from my friend. I read it breifly and want to know if this was risky or what. I will ask later about what set up i was thinking about. Instaed of stroker i was thinking of this offset crank with new rods and pistons.

The only way i can explain it is that you take the center point of the crank and move it up or down by a fration then you shape the crank lobe or journal maybe is what you call it, to a certain size and you get a certain stroke then.

Basicly same thing as a stroker

Many times you can pick up stroke by grinding the Rod center lines off center(and out, increasing stroke) and going to a smaller rod journal size.

I would just buy a new crank. Then again if you took a 396 crank(3.875) and did this with a old 327 Rod journal it would still clear the cam and pick up even more stroke

Good luck!
