is this normal piston wear for only 2000 miles??

I just pulled my heads/intake manifold and the pulley assembly off my block today.

383 had about 2000 miles on the motor but was blowing blue smoke from the exhaust and had a bad rear main seal leak with low vacuum as well. possible high crankcase pressure.

just wondering if the pistons have normal wear for 2000 miles on them. first pic is driver side, second is passenger. sorry for the blurred driver side one.

and i just looked at my lloyd elliott heads again today, as well as the lt4 intake manifold, and i am still amazed at the job lloyd did for me.

Looks like it's running pig rich and that may be causing your rings to not seal. Some better pictures of the head chambers and focused on the cylinder wall would help.

I dont see any piston wear since the wear points of the pistons are surrounded by cylinders, but the cylinders look good.

I had some oil buring out the exhaust too, actually really bad, ended up being.. get this... ROCKER ARM THREADs!! Yup, had my heads ported by AI and some of the rocker arm thread holes were open to the intake port.. still I thought NO WAY but sure enough, I re-assembled with thread sealer and POOF! GONE!! No more oil. It was getting bad too!

Just wondering if this stuff eventually will melt/suck away and need a re-seal. Take a look at yours since it's apart.

which sealer did you use on the rocker arm threads? i figure i might as well do it to be on the safe side.

and machinistone, i will try to get some pics of the cylinder walls up closer tomorrow, the walls do look pretty good though from what i can see.

thanks

here are some pics of the cylinder walls up closer, i think i am only showing 3 pistons in these pics, you can tell by the pics if they are the same piston or not.

i will try to get some pics of the head chambers tomorrow, all the openings look clean on the intake side but black on the exhaust side.
