New Nascar Chevrolet Engine

First off, Mods if ya don't want this here, then delete it. I thought I would get better answers here. On Nascar Performance yesterday, one of the Hendrick Motorsports guys was there and they talked about the new Chevy engine for 2007. Suppose to be an all new design from the ground up, but he didn't say much, but he did say a distributor in the front of the engine. Just wondering if some of you have any insight on this all new design.

LS based most likely.... Bowtie LS block and rumors of a canted valve SB2.2 style LS head floating around.

Sorry to go off topic but I know this probably won't happen, but does anyone have any dyno graphs of a nextel cup engine?

Hmmmm..... a mirror-port canted-valve carbureted LS-based engine..... the mouth waters at the mere thought of it. And at the thought some of that technology could trickle down to the streets in a few years.

I understand that this will be a right bank forward motor.

The minimal drivetrain loss in Cup cars is CRAZY!

Was talking to one of the local teams dyno guy the other day and he said a couple of their cars are gonna be over 800 rwhp this weekend. He said the exact numbers, but I won't get into that!

depending on the engine cup cars typically make 775-790 hp however i believe next year they are looking to more like 820-840 and yes the drivetrain loss on circle track and stock cars is really small do to the transmission parts, magnesium rearends, etc.
may not be everyone's cup of tea, but those nascar engine builders do some magic building motors withstanding 7-9k rpm at places like atlanta and texas. crazy.

Distributor in the front of the engine, Yes it is true. I could tell more but I would have to shoot you.

I knew they were puttin down ~850hp but I want to see how the dyno chart looks for an all out race engine. But 800+rwhp is amazing, whats the drivetrain loss on those?

From what I've seen, it’s not LS based at all, it’s new. What’s really neat is the head bolt arrangement & cam & lifter position. All should be released next year after ford and dodge have their designs submitted & approved. It will look, well....different to say the least.
