Need some help here, converting to single plane intake

This is the one I'm ordering/Edelbrock 29785 w/3630 (Fuel Rails)
http://www.advancedperformance-efi.com/intakes.php

I also want to plug a distributor in the back with a crank trigger. What I want to know is what distrubutor will work under the dash? Do I still need the opti? What do I use as the control modual? What about a ballancer? Basically what do I need to make this work?

Go here for the throttle Body. I will be running the 2000 cfm one.

Thanks

Neal

Also, Since I wont be running the opti any more, do I even need the fast system with opti, or can I just order a regular fast setup for a chevy SB?

MSD has a crab cap distrubutor which is a low profile distributor with a side mount for the plugs rather than a top mount.

For the DFI you need a DFI type disributor, Accel makes one for it and I think MSD does too.

accell now makes a dual sync dist. for the dfi cars that elminates the need for the crank trigger.

Good luck with that. I waited two months and got nothing but empty promises from Rob. Towards the end of my wait I started to receive lies as well.

Im doing something similiar.

Going to run the Crab cap as bret mentioned. Cheap as its basically just a cap and rotor with no vacuum advance etc features. (155 bucks)

Pull out the opti rotor, and run the coil wire to the crab cap.

That will leave the stock ECM in charge of timing, using the opti high and low res pulse still functional in the back of the opti on the optical wheel itsellf. That virtually eliminates all opti falures (flung apart rotors, and corrosion) and will just use it as a crank sensor to feed the hi/low resolution pulses to the ecm.

Also, check your PMs. Ive got something you may be interested in.

I talked to him before and he seemed real nice, though anyone trying to make $ should be nice. You should have told me and i'd have drove down and picked it up in person.

He was always real nice and real helpful on the phone. We talked for over 30 minutes during one conversation. He said the guy that makes the units for him was busy doing something else and he kept telling me he would get them "next friday." I finally told him to just send me everything I ordered (ordered fuel rails, pump, regulator, etc...) and I'd just get the throttle body when it came in. He was cool with that and said it had shipped. After a week went by I called and he told me it would ship that day. Another week went by and I emailed him cause I know he stays pretty busy and I got no return email. So I call again and get his secretary and she puts me on hold for 5 min, then comes back on and says someone is going to call me back. Never heard back from anyone nor did I see any parts come through. I've got a serious pet peeve about lying to me....

And I'm posting all this for the original poster to see so he can know who he's dealing with. Not hijacking your thread at all.

Well I don't want to have this problem at all. Where else can I get this type of Throttle Body?

I might take you up on that, if your close buy him. Aslong as its in stock there at his shop I don't think there will be a problem.

There is a throttle body that big on Wilson's Manifolds for $721.

About the crab cap distributor. If you run your coil wire from to the distributor and still use the opti for the computer, what do you do with the wires that come out of the distributor for the crank magnet? Do you just leave that alone or what?
