Well I talked to the guy who built it and he said that he is pretty sure that they did not take more than .010" off to surface it. He did NOT have them zero deck it and he knows the piston is NOT out of the hole. So given .010 off would give me at least .036 quench area (depending on the original deck height of 9.025-9.035). I can rest easy now. Thanks for your help guys.

Yea, if it werent for the cost of head gaskets, i would do it that way, but the motor is already on the mounts/k-member.

I know it is playing with fire and not the smartest way to do it, but its ALOT of time and work which is 99% sure is a waste.

I feel confident enough that I am fine to continue from this point.

I just wish I hadnt screwed up and checked it in the 1st place. Well you live and learn... i dont think I am doing too bad for my 1st build. Hell, I bet alot of people dont even think about qunch on their motors. I learned alot, and Im satisfied enough that everything is cool.
