As long as the crank was special, the 3.80 gives a 382 (close enough!) vs. 377 from a 3.75.
I believe the crate 383 has standard 5.7 rods.

I've personaly run a 400+ shot on a 6" rod 396 setup. It was a 1.06 comp height. It went 9.11@155mph at 3400lbs. I have built both combinations, 5.85 or 6" and they both work, but I would suggest using a 5.85 rod. Email me if you need anything.
