LT1 367 any advnatages and or disadvantages?
Nope no type-o, check out the link, they already make a version for the conventional SBC, and one for the late-model GEN 1 87-up blocks. Are the LT-1 crankshaft different than the regular 87-up 1-piece RMS cranks? If so what is the difference, I would like to know please

Boy, can't wait to get one of them steroker 363s...
Do you have any idea how ridiculous building a "363" is? It makes no sense whatsoever.
ACTUALLY Jim it makes ALOT of sence for some people. You being in the hart of Auto_X country and all I just figured you would know the rules
I got a feeling 363 is legal for a 6.0L limit class(Street Mod comes to mind) and 383(6.2L) is not

If I were building a motor that was limited to 6.0L, I'd use a 400 style block with a shorter stroke
4.155" bore + 3.375" stroke = 5999.25cc
or if one of the newer Motowon blocks were available
4.25" bore + offset ground 327 crank (3.226" stroke) = 5999.58cc
Should be able to fit some big *** valves in there to move LOTS of air

Ellis,
Your "feeling" is dead on, 6.0L is the max allowable displacement for a pushrod V8 engine in SM.

I "autocrossed" when I was much younger, but it involved half ton vans and shopping carts...
363 is not a typo. They use a 3.563" stroke and a 4.030" bore. But it is an oddball combo.
If you're building to a 6.0L (366 cid) limit, why not go with commonly available parts? Like 4.060" bore and a 3.500" stroke. Or better yet, a 4.165" bore and a 3.300" stroke.
And if you're not trying to meet class-rules, why would you spend any money just to gain 13 cubes?

I am suprised Bret did not mention most newer SBC motors become unstable at 4.060 bore. This is a extended high RPM sport. Last time I went tach never dropped under 4,500 the entire run and was over 6,000 for most of it. noit long say 1.30 Minutes
I believe After market blocks are not allowed nore are other then stock castings.
I was just trying to point out why they would do it.
One day I hope to see jimlabs car move
