honing for piston fit

Ive got a block that had recently been machined .30 over. Only thing that wasnt done was decking because they hadn't decided on pistons yet. Anyways, its a 4-bolt LT1 block from a vette with arp main studs. Now Im getting ready to purchase a rotating assembly for a blown 383 project and im probably going with -31 cc je/srp pistons with 4340 eagle crank and probably 5.7 rods. Reason for going big dish is Im running stock CNC LT1 heads. I have a guy telling me the block really needs to be honed with the pistons in hand to get the cylinders exact for each piston. How critical is this when building an engine of this caliber? Its probably going to see <10 psi boost at first, but more later with the swap to a D1sc. Also, since the block has already been honed, where does that leave me? Finally, what kind of price are we talking about to have this done and have the block decked (I was thinking to .010)? Thanks for any help provided.

Your machinist or guy is giving you the right info. Why don't you ask him the price?

Clearance needs to be set per piston manufacturer. Don't forget that boosted apps need different ring gaps too.
