head stud questions ...

>I am using ARP head studs with my LT1 stroker motor (3.875" crank/ 4.030" bore) .
when the engine temp gets hot the lower head studs allow coolant to come up through the bolts ... I am pretty sure I put thread sealer on the theads that went into the block .
I know I definately put the thread sealant on the mid and long studs under the valve overs .

Do you think it's possible to remove the lower head studs and install more sealant on the lower head studs without having to remove the head or use a new head gasket ?

BTW there isn't any evidence of coolant in the oil .

IMHO I think you would be fine as long as you did them one at a time.

You have to use orange RTV for your sealant or they will leak. You didnt use orange rtv did you? If you can dry out the bolt hole I dont c why you couldnt just pull the stud if you can get them out.

Yup start over with the RTV and you will never have to do it again. I made that mistake once, but never again..hahahaha

I used liquid teflon not RTV and have not had any problems. However I must admit my engine runs very cool, maybe even to cool.

P.S. Thats in the 84 not the 97.
